I never thought this would be a yardstick by which I would measure writing, but...
I've recently finished Running With Scissors, by Augusten Burroughs. Maybe I'll read some more of his stuff, or maybe not. But, I have learned something... when David Sedaris writes about shit coiled in a commode, I read with one eye open, but I still read. When Augusten Burroughs writes about shit coiled in a commode, I just flip past it. Even when David Sedaris writes about shit, it's still worth reading, no matter how horrible the topic.
