The Incomparable
Astrea:
An Introduction to Aphra Behn
Just as you might expect, a brief introduction to the life and works of the "punk and poetesse" herself, Mrs. Aphra Behn -- poet, playwright, spy for the crown -- once seen as the epitome of lewdness and impropriety, but in later years held up as a different kind of example altogether.
Roving Hellena:
The Portrayal of Women's Roles in The Rover
An essay I wrote for English Drama from 1660 to 1900 with Dr. Elizabeth Richmond-Garza. The work on this paper, and the exploration of some of its themes, led me to to what would become my fascination with Mrs. Behn. It appears only slightly revised from its original form.
