All About Sukipot

About This Site...

The title says it all. It's my ongoing one-woman show, with new works being put into rotation as they come up.

If this were a book, this section would be called a colophon, and there'd be all this jazz about the typeface used in setting the book, and how it was invented by some German or Dutch fellow (they're always German or Dutch, or Swiss, I notice), blah blah blah. Actually, I think that kind of stuff is really interesting, so here we go: The fonts I use on this site are Trebuchet and Georgia, both designed specifically for reading on the screen by Vincent Connare and Matthew Carter, respectively. (Neither of these gentlemen are Dutch, but Mr. Carter speaks Dutch, anyway.)

Enough about the typeface; what about the content? This site is slung together with words generated by my own lily-white hands typing on my trusty 12" PowerBook. All the automagical foo is powered by Movable Type, and I am forever grateful to Shimmy Weiler for introducing me to the beauty of cascading style sheets and for patiently handholding me through getting my templates put together. And although I've never met him, I must give props for general inspiration where they are due: Grettir Rocks!

...and Something About the Author

If you've gotten to this point, then it means you're at least vaguely curious about me; therefore I shall try to be vaguely informative in return. Words and music are the things I do best. I write, mostly non-fiction (but that could change); some of my writings include essays, reviews, technical documentation, even liturgy. I play Celtic harp -- sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric. I also play bassoon (purely acoustic).

Right now I am a master's student in the School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin, and that takes a good deal of my time and energy. I've also been futzing around with GarageBand, making generally derivative and lame (yet entertaining) music files that I might upload sometime, somewhere.
